ABODA QLD is host­ing the Aus­tralian National Band and Orches­tra Con­fer­ence in 2012 (ANBOC2012). Plan­ning is well under­way for this major con­fer­ence which is being held from Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 July 2012 at the Edmund Rice Per­form­ing Arts Centre. The pro­gram is designed for school and com­munity band and orches­tra dir­ect­ors of all levels and will include con­duct­ing mas­ter classes, for­ums to explore rep­er­toire, rehearsal tech­niques, instru­ment ped­agogy and addi­tional oppor­tun­it­ies to dis­cover the latest in music tech­no­logy. The con­fer­ence will be led by inter­na­tional and Aus­tralian clini­cians includ­ing Craig Kirch­hoff (Uni­ver­sity of Min­nesota) and Richard Miles (More­head State Uni­ver­sity and editor of the Teach­ing Music Through Per­form­ance in Band books) and Joanne Irwin (Ober­lin Con­ser­vat­ory). There will also be per­form­ances by some of the coun­tries lead­ing ensembles includ­ing the Elder Con­ser­vat­orium Wind Sym­phony and the Queens­land Wind Orchestra.
