BoB to perform at QBOC2010

BoBABODA QLD is pleased to announce that the brass quintet, BoB, will be performing at the ABODA 25th Anniversary Dinner during QBOC2010.

They’re bold, they’re brassy and they perform an eclectic assortment of works from the brass repertoire ranging from the Renaissance to present day. They are BoB!

This newly formed Brisbane ensemble combines the diverse experience of five masters of brass who between them have a wealth of experience including international, national and state orchestras, and jazz, Latin and brass bands.

Since their inception in November 2008, the ensemble has enjoyed a busy performance schedule, appearing in concerts at the University of Queensland, Queensland Conservatorium of Music, the Brisbane Festival and the University of Southern Queensland.

BoB strives to bring the highest quality of brass playing, with a touch of magic, to your event. For more information or bookings, contact Armin Terzer, armin@terzer.info, 0431 592 252.

BoB are:

BOB SCHULTZ (trumpet): at the age of 23, Bob has already established himself as one of the most sought after lead trumpet players in Brisbane, with frequent visits interstate. While his main strengths lie in jazz and improvisation, Bob is equally at home in the classical, contemporary and popular music worlds. A true crossover artist, he hardly ever has a day not on the job, while also finding time to share his expertise with the future generation.

MITCHELL BUCKLEY (trumpet): having completed his Bachelor of Music Studies recently, and looking into further concentrating on the educational aspects of brass playing, Mitchell’s career mainly involves close contact with young people all over Queensland. Currently employed in three locations across the state, he also plays with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Youth Orchestras, Brisbane Brass and various other ensembles.

ARMIN TERZER (horn): a truly international artist, Armin moved to Brisbane in 2007 after residencies of varying length in Italy, London and China, and performances across the world, including Amsterdam, Beijing, Cairo, London, New York, Paris and Sydney. His research doctorate connects him to composers, arrangers, performers, teachers and students around the world, and the same can be said for his performance activities. With BoB, Armin is succeeding in establishing an ensemble of international quality with an ever growing local, national and international outreach.

GREG AITKEN (trombone): the elder of the group, Greg’s list of accomplishments are vast. Currently running the premier brass shop in Queensland, Brass Music Specialists, Greg is also a very active conductor (Brisbane Brass until recently), performer (all kinds of trombones, bass trumpet), and since early 2009, the Head of Brass at the Queensland Conservatorium. A man with seemingly unlimited skills and resources, Greg continues to be an inspiration for generations of musicians.

MATTHEW MCGEACHIN (bass trombone): the youngest member of the group, at 21 years of age, Matt has built himself a reputation as one of the leading young bass trombonists in Australia. Frequent appearances with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Western Australia Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Sinfonia (to name a few) and a plethora of awards and prizes have earned Matt the respect and admiration of his peers.
