In 2011, the South Australian Band Association (SABA) will be hosting the Australian National Band Championships. It will be held at the University of Adelaide over the Easter long weekend (21–24 April) and will feature brass and concert bands from Australia, New Zealand and from other countries around the world. The chairperson of the organisisng committee is Patricia Keep, SABA treasurer and South Australia’s representative on the National Band Council of Australia.
The tentative schedule so far is:
Thursday 21 April: Solos and Ensembles
Friday 22 April: Open Brass Hymn and Test, Junior Brass programme
Saturday 23 April: Parade of Bands, Open Brass Own Choice and March
Sunday 24 April: Open Concert Bands, Junior Concert Bands
Venues
On stage events will be held in Elder Hall (with warm up facilities available in Bishop Hall) and Scott Theatre (also with warm up facilities available) and both venues provide seating for up to 600. Solo events are planned for the Harry Medlin Theatre, the Eclipse Theatre, the Hartley Concert Room and the Madley Studio. Warm ups will be in the Margaret Murray Room. The Street Parade will be held in Rundle Street.
Adjudicators
The chief adjudicators will be Barrie Gott for the brass bands and Graham Lloyd for the concert bands.
