In 2011, the South Aus­tralian Band Asso­ci­ation (SABA) will be host­ing the Aus­tralian National Band Cham­pi­on­ships. It will be held at the Uni­ver­sity of Adelaide over the Easter long week­end (21–24 April) and will fea­ture brass and con­cert bands from Aus­tralia, New Zea­l­and and from other coun­tries around the world. The chair­per­son of the organis­isng com­mit­tee is Patri­cia Keep, SABA treas­urer and South Australia’s rep­res­ent­at­ive on the National Band Coun­cil of Australia.

The tent­at­ive sched­ule so far is:

Thursday 21 April: Solos and Ensembles
Fri­day 22 April: Open Brass Hymn and Test, Junior Brass pro­gramme
Sat­urday 23 April: Parade of Bands, Open Brass Own Choice and March
Sunday 24 April: Open Con­cert Bands, Junior Con­cert Bands

Ven­ues
On stage events will be held in Elder Hall (with warm up facil­it­ies avail­able in Bishop Hall) and Scott Theatre (also with warm up facil­it­ies avail­able) and both ven­ues provide seat­ing for up to 600. Solo events are planned for the Harry Med­lin Theatre, the Eclipse Theatre, the Hartley Con­cert Room and the Mad­ley Stu­dio. Warm ups will be in the Mar­garet Mur­ray Room. The Street Parade will be held in Rundle Street.

Adju­dic­at­ors
The chief adju­dic­at­ors will be Bar­rie Gott for the brass bands and Gra­ham Lloyd for the con­cert bands.
